On the 7th of April, some of the 5th Grade students had an intellectually enriching opportunity to participate in Model United Nations (MUN). The learning and experience gained from the MUN is a pivotal part of developing one’s self as an independent thinker. The MUN took place in the Singapore International School, a residential school located about a 1-hour drive ascend international. For most of the participants ranging from ages 9-11, this was their first MUN. Hence the atmosphere of the MUN was quite apprehensive and iffy.

One of the participants also said that there was a lot of pressure as they were representing Ascend in front of so many other schools. On the contrary, some of the “munners” said that it was a great feeling to be part of something and being able to represent their school. The Ascend Team was amongst many other schools from Mumbai like Ecole Mondiale, Oberoi. Overall the students who attend the MUN felt a sense of accomplishment for the hard work they had put in, MUN gives students a chance to debate, write speeches, work in pressure and improve and practice their skills, The MUN was a great day for the students, and they enjoyed the whole experience.
