Not only was the cleaning up rewarding but after 20 years the turtles have laid their eggs on the Versova beach again.
An abundant amount of students from the pre-primary and primary years volunteered to help clean Versova beach by picking up all the plastic, and garbage. Afrosh Shah came to Ascend to talk about the Versova beach clean up, and explained the importance. Not only was the cleaning up rewarding but after 20 years the turtles have laid their eggs on the Versova beach again. The 3s and 4s along with many more volunteers helped clean the beach. When two students from the 3 and 4s were asked about their experience they said that most of the garbage was plastic and they want to tell everyone to stop using plastic, and to use more ecofriendly alternatives instead like paper and more.
There were many more schools that volunteered and all the help and cleaning made the turtles lay eggs again. It is imperative that we save our surroundings and environment because we don’t have to only think of ourselves but the animals and the other species too that can get extinct because of global warming. The students said cleaning the beach was a lot of fun, and after the cleaning he felt very proud. There are many more beaches and areas to be cleaned, and if we continue cleaning we can make the beach clean to play for us and for everyone. Help marine life and stop littering in nature, if we keep on acting like the planet is only ours and not the animals than we should think again and about the other animals as it is their home too. I think, like these two young students of the 3 and 4s Shiv and Mira, we should also start thinking about the initiative to start saving the environment as global warming is a huge growing issue, and taking care of our surroundings is also important and initiatives like this will help to save the future.
